General annotation (Comments)

Function

Participates in Wnt signaling. Plays a complex role in regulating the basal catalytic activity of the alpha subunit By similarity. Modulates two aspects of male mating behavior; response to hermaphrodite contact and vulval location, acting in the same pathway as lov-1 and pkd-2. Ref.3

Subunit structure

Tetramer of two alpha and two beta subunits. Interacts (via C-terminus) with lov-1 (via PLAT domain). Ref.3

Subcellular location

Cell projectionaxon. Cell projectioncilium. Cell projectiondendrite. Perikaryon. Note: Enriched in cilia in male sensory neurons. Ref.3

Tissue specificity

Expressed in a subset of the adult male sensory neurons: CEM head neurons, ray RnB neurons, and hook HOB tail neurons. Ref.3

Developmental stage

Elevated levels are observed during embryogenesis, liver regeneration, and adipocyte differentiation.

Post-translational modification

Phosphorylated by alpha subunit By similarity.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the casein kinase 2 subunit beta family.
