General annotation (Comments)

Function

Transcription activator, when associated with BHLH2/EGL3/MYC146 or BHLH12/MYC1. Involved in epidermal cell fate specification in leaves. Together with TTG1 and GL3, promotes trichome formation and endoreplication. Regulates the production of a signal that induces hair (trichome) precursor cells on leaf primordia to differentiate. Binds to the WER-binding sites (WBS) promoter regions and activates the transcription of target genes By similarity. Ref.9 Ref.11 Ref.14 Ref.15

Subunit structure

Interacts directly with GL3 and BHLH2. Part of a complex made of GL1, GL3 or BHLH2, and TTG1. Interacts also with BHLH2/EGL3/MYC146 and BHLH12/MYC1. Ref.9 Ref.12 Ref.13 Ref.14 Ref.15
