Function

Antenna complexes are light-harvesting systems, which transfer the excitation energy to the reaction centers.

Subunit structure

The core complex is formed by 9 alpha and 9 beta chains that bind bacteriochlorophyll and carotenoid molecules, and is disposed around the reaction center. The non-pigmented gamma chains may constitute additional components By similarity. Ref.3 Ref.4
