General annotation (Comments)

Function

Negative regulator of phage lambda lysogenization. Contributes to the degradation of the phage regulatory protein CII. Acts probably by holding CII on the membrane surface, away from the target promoters, but close to the FtsH protease. Ref.6

Subunit structure

Interacts with CII protein from phage lambda. Ref.6

Subcellular location

Cytoplasm. Cell inner membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side Ref.6.

Disruption phenotype

Cells lacking this gene show an increased lysogenization frequency. Ref.6

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the HflD family.

Sequence caution

The sequence M74924 differs from that shown. Reason: Frameshift at positions 49, 174 and 178.
