Protein

A protein

Gene

A

Organism
Enterobacteria phage alpha3 (Bacteriophage alpha-3)
Status
Reviewed-Annotation score: Annotation score: 2 out of 5-Protein predictedi

Functioni

The A protein is a specific endonuclease that cleaves the viral strand of supertwisted, closed circular DNA at a unique site in the A gene. The A protein also causes relaxation of supertwisted DNA and forms a complex with viral DNA that has a discontinuity in gene A of the viral strand.
