Reduces a broad range of aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes to the corresponding alcohols. May play a role in the metabolism of xenobiotic aromatic aldehydes (By similarity). The role of MVDP in sperm maturation and storage may be related to its potential capacity to produce fructose, or MVDP may play an osmoregulatory role by producing sorbitol.By similarity
