General annotation (Comments)

Function

Component of the helicase/primase complex. Unwinds the DNA at the replication forks and generates single-stranded DNA for both leading and lagging strand synthesis. The primase synthesizes short RNA primers on the lagging strand that the polymerase presumably elongates using dNTPs. The UL70 subunit bears the primase activity By similarity.

Subunit structure

Interacts with host SNAPIN By similarity. Associates with the helicase-primase complex composed of the primase UL70, the helicase UL105 and the primase-associated factor UL102. Ref.4

Subcellular location

Host nucleus By similarity.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the herpesviridae UL52 family.

Sequence caution

The sequence CAA35386.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.
