General annotation (Comments)

Function

May be involved in hydrogen uptake for the reduction of sulfate to hydrogen sulfide in an electron transport chain. Cytochrome c3 is likely to be the physiological electron carrier for the enzyme.

Catalytic activity

H2 + 2 oxidized ferredoxin = 2 reduced ferredoxin + 2 H+.

Subunit structure

Heterodimer of a large and a small subunit.

Subcellular location

Periplasm.

Post-translational modification

Predicted to be exported by the Tat system. The position of the signal peptide cleavage has not been experimentally proven.
