General annotation (Comments)

Function

GTP-binding protein involved in protein trafficking; may modulate vesicle budding and uncoating within the Golgi apparatus. Recruits polyadenylate-binding protein PAB1 to COPI vesicles, and this is required for correct localization of the asymmetrically distributed ASH1 mRNA. Ref.7

Subunit structure

Interacts with RUD3. Ref.6 Ref.7

Subcellular location

Golgi apparatus.

Miscellaneous

Present with 19300 molecules/cell in log phase SD medium.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the small GTPase superfamily. Arf family.
