Function

Plays a role in virion morphogenesis and budding by interacting with the capsid. Interacts also in the virion with the membrane bound tegument protein UL11. Upon virion binding to target cell, a signaling is triggered through UL11 to disrupt UL16-capsid interaction, thereby preparing capsid uncoating. Ref.4
