Protein
Potassium channel toxin alpha-KTx 23.3
Gene
N/A
Organism
Scorpiops tibetanus (Scorpion)
Status
Functioni
This toxin shows both immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory activities (PubMed:28077339). It has the potential to inhibit human T cell activation, since it reduces IL-2 secretion and the expression of T cell activation marker CD69 and acts as a antiinflammatory agent, since it provokes the reduction of secretion of both IFN-gamma and TNF-alpha (PubMed:28077339). In vivo, the delayed-type hypersensitivity response in rat autoimmune disease model is ameliorated in the presence of this toxin (PubMed:28077339). Acts by blocking Kv1.3/KCNA3 potassium channels of T-lymphocytes (By similarity).By similarity1 Publication
Miscellaneous
Recombinant toxin does not cause hemolysis in human erythrocytes.1 Publication

Links to similar proteins from the UniProt Reference Clusters (UniRef) at 100%, 90% and 50% sequence identity:| 100% | UniRef100 combines identical sequences and sub-fragments with 11 or more residues from any organism into one UniRef entry. |
| 90% | UniRef90 is built by clustering UniRef100 sequences that have at least 90% sequence identity to, and 80% overlap with, the longest sequence (a.k.a seed sequence). |
| 50% | UniRef50 is built by clustering UniRef90 seed sequences that have at least 50% sequence identity to, and 80% overlap with, the longest sequence in the cluster. |
