Protein

Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor Hg1

Gene
N/A
Organism
Hadrurus gertschi (Scorpion)
Status
Reviewed-Annotation score: Annotation score: 4 out of 5-Experimental evidence at protein leveli

Functioni

Dual-function toxin that completely inhibits the activity of trypsin at a molar ratio of 1:1 (dissociation constant of 107 nM) and that inhibits mKv1.3/KCNA3 potassium channel currents with an IC50 of 6.2 nM (where 1 µM inhibits 80% of currents). Also has weak inhibitory activity against mKv1.1/KCNA1 (where 1 µM inhibits less than 50% of currents), hKv1.2/KCNA2 (where 1 µM inhibits less than 50% of currents), and hKCa2.3/KCNN3.1 Publication

Miscellaneous

Has no effect on chymotrypsin, nor elastase, nor the KCa1.1/KCNMA1 potassium channel.1 Publication

Links to similar proteins from the UniProt Reference Clusters (UniRef) at 100%, 90% and 50% sequence identity:
100%UniRef100 combines identical sequences and sub-fragments with 11 or more residues from any organism into one UniRef entry.
90%UniRef90 is built by clustering UniRef100 sequences that have at least 90% sequence identity to, and 80% overlap with, the longest sequence (a.k.a seed sequence).
50%UniRef50 is built by clustering UniRef90 seed sequences that have at least 50% sequence identity to, and 80% overlap with, the longest sequence in the cluster.
