Functioni

Alpha-conotoxins act on postsynaptic membranes, they bind to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) and thus inhibit them. ArIA shows 3-fold more selectivity for alpha-7 homomeric nAChRs (IC50=6 nM) than for alpha-3/beta-2 nAChR.
ArIB shows 33-fold more selectivity for alpha-7 homomeric nAChRs (IC50=1.8 nM) than for alpha-3/beta-2 nAChR.
