Protein

Alpha-conotoxin AnIB

Gene
N/A
Organism
Conus anemone (Anemone cone)
Status
Reviewed-Annotation score: Annotation score: 3 out of 5-Experimental evidence at protein leveli

Functioni

Alpha-conotoxins act on postsynaptic membranes, they bind to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) and thus inhibit them. Synthetic AnIB blocks mammalian alpha-3/beta-2 nAChRs (IC50=0.3 nM) and alpha-7 nAChRs (IC50=76 nM). Synthetic AnIA blocks mammalian alpha-3/beta-2 nAChRs (IC50=0.2 nM).
