Reduction of arsenate [As(V)] to arsenite [As(III)]. This protein expands the substrate specificity of arsAB pump which can extrude arsenite and antimonite to allow for arsenate pumping and resistance By similarity.

Arsenate + glutaredoxin = arsenite + glutaredoxin disulfide + H2O.
