General annotation (Comments)

Function

The circumsporozoite protein is the immunodominant surface antigen on the sporozoite (the infective stage of the malaria parasite that is transmitted from the mosquito to the vertebrate host).

Domain

The C-terminal region is probably used for anchoring the protein to the cell membrane. The repeat sequences would be the surface antigen of the organism.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the plasmodium circumsporozoite protein family.

Contains 1 TSP type-1 domain.
