General annotation (Comments)

Function

Capsid protein self-assembles to form an icosahedral capsid with a T=3 symmetry, about 29 nm in diameter, and consisting of 12 capsid protein pentamers and 20 capsid protein hexamers. Binds to the to the 3' end of the nonpolyadenylated viral RNA and is involved in viral RNA translation initiation. Probably binds RNA and plays a role in packaging By similarity.

Subcellular location

Virion Potential.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the alphamovirus/ilarvirus capsid protein family.
