P00026

- CYC_CYPCA

UniProt

P00026 - CYC_CYPCA

Protein

Cytochrome c iso-1/iso-2

Gene

cyc

Organism
Cyprinus carpio (Common carp)
Status
Reviewed - Annotation score: 4 out of 5- Experimental evidence at protein leveli
  1. Functioni

Electron carrier protein. The oxidized form of the cytochrome c heme group can accept an electron from the heme group of the cytochrome c1 subunit of cytochrome reductase. Cytochrome c then transfers this electron to the cytochrome oxidase complex, the final protein carrier in the mitochondrial electron-transport chain.

    Miscellaneousi

    Miscellaneous

The protein was obtained from food carp that consisted of two cross-bred strains, the European carp and the Amur carp. The isocytochromes may be the result of strain differences.
The sequence shown is the iso-1 cytochrome c.
