Protein attributes
| Sequence length | 204 AA. |
| Sequence status | Complete. |
| Protein existence | Evidence at protein level |
General annotation (Comments)
| Function | Involved in the biosynthesis of rubber, an isoprenoid polymer (cis-1,4-polyisoprene). |
| Subcellular location | Cytoplasm. Note: Found in latex, the cytoplasm of laticifer cells. Tightly bound to small rubber particles. |
| Tissue specificity | Highly expressed in the specialized vessel laticifers. Also detected in leaves. |
| Induction | Not induced by wounding or ethephon treatment. |
| Post-translational modification | The N-terminus is blocked. Consistent shifts of about 266 Da observed by MS in various forms of the intact protein suggest the addition of stearolyl groups. |
| Allergenic properties | Causes an allergic reaction in human. Involved in latex allergic reactions. Major spina bifida (SB) associated latex allergen. Patients with SB are especially sensitive to specific allergens that do not usually affect adult patients without SB who are otherwise sensitive to latex. These patients are multioperated patients, whose mucosal membranes have been frequently in contact with latex products. Many patients with SB are sensitized to low molecular weight polypeptides derived from the fragmentation of Hev b 3. |
| Sequence similarities | Belongs to the REF/SRPP family. |
| Mass spectrometry | Molecular mass is 22258 Da from positions 1 - 204. Determined by ESI. Ref.5 Molecular mass is 22524 Da from positions 1 - 204. Determined by ESI. Ref.5 Molecular mass is 22791 Da from positions 1 - 204. Determined by ESI. Ref.5 Molecular mass is 23058 Da from positions 1 - 204. Determined by ESI. Ref.5 |
