General annotation (Comments)

Function

Binds to voltage-dependent sodium channels (Nav) and voltage-dependent delayed rectifier potassium channels and inhibits the inactivation of the activated channels, thereby blocking neuronal transmission. Administration to mice at a dosage of 0.8 mg/kg produces an analgesic effect. Ref.3

Subcellular location

Secreted Ref.3.

Tissue specificity

Expressed by the venom gland. Ref.3

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the long (4 C-C) scorpion toxin superfamily. Sodium channel inhibitor family. Alpha subfamily.

Mass spectrometry

Molecular mass is 7040.5 Da from positions 20 - 83. Determined by ESI. Ref.3
