Protein

UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 2B16

Gene

UGT2B16

Organism
Oryctolagus cuniculus (Rabbit)
Status
Reviewed - Annotation score: 3 out of 5- Experimental evidence at transcript leveli

Functioni

UDPGT is of major importance in the conjugation and subsequent elimination of potentially toxic xenobiotics and endogenous compounds. Acts on small phenolic agents such as 2-beta-naphthol and 4-methylumbelliferone as well as bulky phenolic compounds like 2-hydroxy- and 4-hydroxybiphenyl. In contrast to 2B13 it is active toward 4-hydroxyesterone.

Catalytic activityi

UDP-glucuronate + acceptor = UDP + acceptor beta-D-glucuronoside.
