General annotation (Comments)

Function

Involved in N-glycosylation of the S-layer glycoprotein. Contributes to the assembly of the pentasaccharide decorating at least 2 select Asn residues of the S-layer glycoprotein. Probably transfers the pentasaccharide from a dolichol phosphate carrier to at least 2 S-layer glycoprotein Asn residues, 'Asn-47' and 'Asn-117'.

Catalytic activity

Dolichyl diphosphooligosaccharide + protein L-asparagine = dolichyl diphosphate + a glycoprotein with the oligosaccharide chain attached by N-glycosyl linkage to protein L-asparagine.
