Aciduliprofundum boonei (strain DSM 19572 / T469) is an obligate thermoacidophilic, anaerobic, chemolithoautotrophic archaeon isolated from hydrothermally heated black smoker wall at the Mid Atlantic Ridge depth 3650m. A. boonei grows at pH between 3.3 and 5.8 with an optimum temperature of 70 degrees Celsius. This organism is a chemoorganotroph, using iron and sulfur as electron donors. It produces chains of vesicles that during growth. (Adapted from PMID: 18445019).
