Tissue specificity

Last modified February 17, 2011

This subsection of the ‘General annotation (Comments)’ section provides information on the expression of a gene at the mRNA or protein level in cells or in tissues of multicellular organisms. By default, the information is derived from experiments at the mRNA level, unless specified ‘at the protein level’.

Examples: P92958, Q8TDN4, O14734

The documented absence of a given gene product in a tissue is also indicated.

Example:Q8K3X6

If information about the tissue expression are inconsistent between two different references, the contradictory results are described and the reference number is cited in brackets after each statement.
Example: Q8TAA9

Note: The content of the ‘Tissue specificity’ subsection may overlap with that of the ‘Developmental stage’ subsection.
