DefinitionThe centrosome is a microtubule organizing center (MTOC) responsible for the nucleation and organisation of microtubules. It is composed of two orthogonally arranged centrioles, each one having a barrel shaped microtubule structure, and their surrounding pericentriolar material (PCM).
