The lamellipodium is a broad, flat, veil-shaped cell protrusion formed at the leading edge of migrating cells. Lamellipodium contain a branched dendritic network of actin filaments having their barbed ends directed towards the cell membrane. It is associated with ameboid motility (or crawling motility).
