| Definition | Protein expressed in the infectious tachyzoite stage, a rapidly growing, lytic and disease-causing stage in the life stage of coccidians (e.g. Toxoplasmy). Tachyzoites, which can infect most nucleated cells, replicate inside a parasitophorous vacuole, egress, and then infect neighboring cells. Aggregates of numerous tachyzoites are called clones, terminal colonies, or groups. |
