Keyword Inhibition of host interferon receptors by virus

UniProtKB (3) rdf/xml obo
DefinitionViral protein involved in the evasion of the interferon pathway by inhibiting interferon receptors. Interferon signaling exerts antiviral effects through cell surface receptors termed interferon receptors. In response to binding of extracellular interferons, they activate the JAK/STAT pathway causing transcriptional activation of IFN-regulated genes. To avoid this antiviral response, several viruses target the interferon receptors and send them to degradation via the proteasome.
