| Definition | Protein which, if defective, causes hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, a disorder characterized by a deficiency of the pituitary secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Affected individuals present with absent or impaired sexual development due to sex-steroid-hormone deficiency, low serum levels of the pituitary gonadotropins FSH and LH, and infertility. |
