The bacterial flagellum export apparatus consists of six integral membrane proteins (FlhA, FlhB, FliO, FliP, FliQ and FliR) and three soluble proteins (FliH, FliI and FliJ), and is located at the base of the flagellum. This system is characterized by ATP hydrolysis and a lack of substrate signal peptide cleavage. |
