Protein found in phycobilisome, an accessory light energy harvesting structure on the outer face of the thylakoid membranes in cyanobacteria and red algae. Phycobilisomes are mainly composed of phycobiliproteins (such as allophycocyanin, phycocyanin and phycoerythrin) together with linker polypeptides.
